Ryan first became interested in drifting at 12 years old when he saw an Option video on the internet. He instantly became hooked on drifting, and tried to drift everything he could get his hands on, from remote control cars to go karts. Two months after Ryan got his drivers license he attended his first drift event at Thunder Drift in his stock Nissan S14. At first, Ryan had no intention of becoming a professional drifter. Once he learned about the Formula Drift Pro-Am program from friend and mentor Tomasz Olech, Ryan decided to challenge himself with the goal of becoming a professional drifter. After two years of hard work and dedication, he achieved his goal. Thanks to his aggressive and consistent driving style, Ryan won his Formula Drift license by being the first driver to win two Pro-Am championships, Thunder Drift and Just Drift, and is now competing in the 2011 Formula Drift Championship. At 19 years old, Ryan is the youngest competitor in Formula Drift.
As of current, Ryan is driving a 2005 350z in the 2011 Formula Drift season. Alongside competing in Formula Drift, Ryan is actively involved in the drifting community. He is an instructor at the Northern California Drifting Academy held at Thunder Hill Raceway, and a judge for the 2011 Thunder Drift Pro-Am and Super-Am series.
